University of Lincoln partners with Nigerian Universities, wins British Council Grant worth £100,000
Warm congratulations to Dr. Paul Igwe (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman (Co-Investigator) on recently being awarded an additional grant of £40 000 (total £100 000) by the inaugural Innovation for African Universities (IAU) Grant of The British Council.
Initially, University of Lincoln in partnership with Coal City University, Enugu, Nigeria and Nigerian ecosystem player, African Development Institute of Research Methodology (ADIRM), Enugu, Nigeria) was awarded a British Council grant of £60 000 for the development of innovative entrepreneurship education and digital ecosystem to advance youth’s employability, entrepreneurial skills, and competencies.
These are part of British Council – Innovation for African Universities (IAU) programme, managed by the Centre of Excellence (CoE) comprising the ChangeSchool, City University of London, and University of Nairobi, Kenya.

In the short-term, the project seeks to investigate the problems of teaching entrepreneurship education in the Nigerian higher education system to better understand the challenges that graduates face in terms of quality of entrepreneurship education and employability skills (both paid and self-employment).
In the long-term, the project seeks to offer provisions that can help to change the current situation. Other objectives of the project include to explore resources that can be utilized to improve entrepreneurship, digital and employability skills and develop synergies for the linkages of stakeholder’s collaboration to improve entrepreneurship curriculum and teaching pedagogy.
To achieve the objectives of the British Council project, a series of workshops have been set up to run over the next six months. This project is managed by Dr Paul Igwe (Principal Investigator) and Associate Professor, Mahfuzur Rahman (Co-Investigator) of the University of Lincoln.
