Permanent Dean of LALT Announced

Dr Kate Strudwick has been appointed the Dean of the Lincoln Academy of Learning and Teaching (LALT) on a permanent basis.

Kate will take up her permanent role from September 2022 and will lead the merger of LALT and the Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute (LHERI) to form a new department.

LALT has taken on significant projects over the past five years, growing the portfolio to cover the University-wide initiative including the Teaching Excellence Framework, Module Evaluation, National Student Survey, Student as Producer, Student Engagement, and consultation on teaching and learning infrastructures including forums and role descriptors. The department has also led on introducing teaching and learning development opportunities through the Academic Professional Apprenticeship and PGCHE programmes as well as staff recognition through the Higher Education Academy scheme and Teaching Excellence Awards.

The merger with LHERI will bring evaluation expertise into the new team to further enhance the portfolio. LHERI have led University-wide projects including the Lincoln Impact Evaluation Framework, the Lincoln Equality of Attainment Project, Uni Connect and supporting the Access and Participation Plan Evaluation Project.

Dr Kate Strudwick said: “I am delighted to be appointed as Dean of Lincoln Academy of Learning and Teaching on a permanent basis, and very much look forward to leading the department as we enter the next phase of its development. The future for LALT, with the LHERI merger, presents an exciting new opportunity to expand and enhance learning, teaching and evaluation at Lincoln.”
