Café Scientifique’s next educational, informal and most importantly, enjoyable, lecture will be on February 13th at The Drill in Lincoln.

The talk is called: “The journey of FAT (Fabulous/Frustrated Adipose Tissue” by Jon Whitehead,
Professor of Biomedical Biochemistry at the University of Lincoln

Join us for a discussion about the formerly heralded, often misunderstood, sometimes ignored, and now much-maligned, FAT controller. Understand more about how this Fabulous dynamic energy store changed from being a promoter of health and wellbeing to a Frustrated driver of most, if not all, 21st Century diseases.

Prof Jon Whitehead, who joined the University in 2016, focusses his research on insulin signalling, insulin resistance and obesity. He specifically seeks to develop strategies to reduce obesity-related ’21st Century diseases’ such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
