New Resources for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Teaching and Learning

The first in a new series of resources to support professional development in teaching and learning are now available for University colleagues, including Professional Services colleagues who support teaching or wish to develop their skills.

The University is developing a new Teaching and Learning CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Framework which will be launched at the annual Teaching & Learning Showcase in September 2025.

The framework aims to support enhanced student satisfaction, excellence in teaching and learning, and clearer professional development, progression routes and career pathways for staff as a key element of the University’s revised strategy.

This will include provision of a new suite of flexible online CPD resources packaged around distinct career pathways, roles or themes. Curated by specialists in the University’s Lincoln Academy of Learning & Teaching (LALT), this will offer a menu of short bite-sized resources that can be studied at the user’s own pace via Blackboard.

As part of an early release and pilot, the first two CPD pathways – New to Teaching and Programme Leader – are now available on the LALT website with more resources on the way in 2025/26. The site also highlights relevant recognition, qualification and development programmes, such as the University’s Higher Education Academy Recognition (HEAR) scheme, which is accredited by AdvanceHE.

The resources are open to any staff member with an interest in teaching and learning. More information and links to the relevant resources can be found on the LALT website at: https://lalt.lincoln.ac.uk/cpd-opportunities/
