Lincoln Identifies Top 10 Research Priorities for Mental Health in Lincolnshire
A collaborative project led by the University of Lincoln has identified the top 10 research priorities for mental health in Lincolnshire, following a year-long co-production process supported by a £150,000 NIHR Mental Health Development Award.
The Guiding Lincolnshire’s Mental Health Research (GLiMHR) initiative brought together people with lived experience, carers, professionals, strategic regional health leaders, and community organisations to shape a research agenda rooted in local needs. The project was delivered in partnership with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Lincolnshire County Council, NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), and key Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations including Every-One and HAY Lincolnshire.
Underpinned by established priority-setting in partnership methodologies, the project gathered more than 500 contributions through community engagement, creative methods, and public surveys. A final consensus-based workshop brought together diverse voices to agree on the county’s top 10 mental health research priorities.
These priorities will inform a planned £11 million bid to establish a dedicated NIHR Mental Health Research Group at the University and provide a long-term strategic focus for mental health research in the region.
