Seminar: Recruiting GPs for Primary Care Research – challenges and strategies
The May improvement science and research methods seminar will take place at the earlier time of 10am on Wednesday 15 May.
In this seminar, challenges, and strategies for recruiting and retaining GPs in primary care research will be highlighted, drawing on lessons from relevant literature including studies led by researchers at CaHRU. The seminar will be coordinated in an interactive manner, allowing for discussions and contributions.
With a background in Nursing and Public Health, Joseph is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Primary care and Public Health Research, and a deputy lead for the Public Health, Infectious Disease and Data (PHInDD) theme at the Community and Health Research Unit (CaHRU).
After qualifying as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1991, Joseph worked as a Staff Nurse in a district hospital in Ghana and progressed to the position of a Casualty and Emergency Unit Manager and later a Nursing School lecturer before moving to the UK in 2004. In the UK, he worked in the NHS as a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 14 years and specialised in renal dialysis and the management of patients with long term conditions, before settling on full time research at the University of Lincoln. Since completing his PhD in 2018, Joseph has been working with Professor Niro Siriwardena and the wider CaHRU team and other experienced researchers, and he has had the opportunity to lead and contribute to Primary Care and Public Health research projects.
