The Digital Education Team is pleased to introduce ‘Digital Education Training Week’ a new approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) delivery which takes the form of an intensive week of training and support covering the full suite of digital tools available at Lincoln.

‘Digital Education Training Week’ has been developed following a full review of Digital Education CPD provision between January and March 2018, after which a report was written with a number of recommendations. On the whole, the results of this review supported our current approach to CPD with:

  • Over 90% of respondents either agreeing or strongly agreeing that facilitators of Digital Education CPD had a good understanding of the topic.
  • Over 85% of respondents feeling that attending a Digital Education CPD session was useful and 89% leaving the session feeling they had a greater understanding of the topic covered.

There was also a positive response to the way sessions were promoted and booked with over 65% of respondents preferring to book via the HR portal, over another platform.

While the review positively reinforced current delivery, there were recommendations on how CPD could be best delivered in the future. These included running sessions in the summer (43% of respondents recommended this) and ensuring adequate room provision for all training events. It was also clear from the review that running more events closer together was preferable to spacing these events out over a period of weeks.

What’s next?

Following the outcome of the Digital Education CPD review, the Digital Education Team are pleased to announce a brand-new initiative called “Digital Education Training Week”. This new approach to CPD will take the form of an intensive week of training and support covering the full suite of digital tools, from Blackboard to Panopto, Turnitin and many others. There will be two workshops a day and all sessions will be delivered in the same room in the David Chiddick Building.

For 2018, there will be two “Digital Education Training Week” events, with the first taking place from the 23rd – 27th July and the second from the 3rd – 7th September. All sessions will take place in DCB2104 and are available to book now via the HR portal at lncn.eu/training.

The team have produced a flyer that details all of the workshops that will be running during both training weeks, you can find it at https://lncn.eu/cdp89. The workshops will also be included on the July and September Staff Development Opportunities posters.
