Lincoln research features on Countryfile Diaries
Cutting edge agri-tech research taking place at Lincoln featured on BBC One’s Countryfile Diaries on Tuesday 29th October.
The programme, which aired at 9:15am on BBC One, showcased the work of the University’s Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology (LIAT) and the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS) in the School of Computer Science.
Their work, funded by Innovate UK and in collaboration with Saga Robotics, explores how pioneering farm robots can be used to tackle a number of challenges in the agricultural sector. The team of researchers is working to improve efficiency and sustainability on farms using a fleet of Thorvald robots.
The Countryfile Diaries episode explored the new technology, currently being tested at the University’s Riseholme Campus, and featured interviews with the team and with Director of LIAT, Professor Simon Pearson. Viewers saw presenter Margherita Taylor take on a Thorvald robot in a number of challenges – from fruit counting and transporting to a tug of war!
