Investigating body image using an interactive, 3D modelling software – call for volunteers!
Researchers are looking for females to take part in a study investigating the relationship between attitudinal and perceptual body image.
Eligibility: Female (cis-gender/as assigned at birth), fluent in English, aged between 18 and 45 years old with no history/current diagnosis of an eating disorder. Has completed the short (5 minutes), online pre-screening questionnaire available at http://bit.ly/bodyimagestudyprescreen.
What will the study involve?
– Creating your current and ideal body size and shape by manipulating a female figure, using an interactive, 3D modelling software.
– A short body size perception task categorising bodies as either ‘thin’ or ‘fat’.
– Completing some questionnaires about body image, mood and eating habits and filling in some demographic details (age, ethnicity and history of eating disorder).
– Having your body measurements taken using a bio-impedance scale and a tape measure (chest, waist, hip and bicep circumferences).
This will take approximately 50 minutes to complete. If you are interested, please follow the link to the online pre-screen questionnaire (http://bit.ly/bodyimagestudyprescreen). This contains a full information sheet, some demographic questions and a short body image questionnaire. If you are eligible to complete the study, the researcher (Nadia Maalin) will contact you using the email address provided. If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to contact Nadia (nmaalin@lincoln.ac.uk).
