Higher Education Academy Recognition Scheme
We encourage all staff who teach to achieve formal recognition of your practice through the Higher Education Academy (HEA, now part of AdvanceHE).
The four categories of HEA recognition are:
– Associate Fellow (D1): via the HEAR programme
– Fellow (D2): via the HEAR programme
– Senior Fellow (D3): via the HEAR programme
– Principal Fellow (D4): supported by our expert consultant, email the HEAR team for further information.
Applications for HEA recognition are submitted to our new internal HEAR programme at regular intervals. Please email hear@lincoln.ac.uk to be added to the programme Blackboard site, which holds a variety of guidance materials, and details of forthcoming support events.
Many academic staff members are requested to achieve HEA recognition or enrol on a teaching qualification course within one year of appointment – in some cases this will be part of your probationary requirements. Staff on alternative contracts, who support learning, or who train colleagues, may also wish to apply for HEA recognition- all staff with relevant experience are welcome and will be supported by the HEAR team to develop an application.
Please note however, that not all applications can be submitted via the HEAR programme. Internal programmes must abide by the regulations of AdvanceHE, therefore you must be either employed or enrolled at the University for the duration of the application review process in order for an award to be made. If you would like to know more about the Academic Professional Apprenticeship, a taught route to Fellowship for staff new to teaching in HE who meet the eligibility requirements, email apa@lincoln.ac.uk.
The next deadline for submissions to the HEAR programme will be: June 9th 2020
If you would be interested in reviewing applications or mentoring colleagues as part of the programme, please get in touch with the Programme Leader Dr Maeve O’Dwyer, or email hear@lincoln.ac.uk. Reviewing is excellent evidence towards a Senior or Principal Fellowship application.
