Global Professor Shortlisted for International Research Prize
Professor Frank Tanser, Global Professor of Rural Health and Social Care, and Director of the Lincoln International Institute for Rural Health, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Newton Prize for his work in South Africa to combat the HIV epidemic.
The Newton Prize celebrates outstanding international research partnerships that play an important role in addressing challenges in developing countries and around the world, such as the problem of producing clean energy, HIV prevention, the protection of historical sites, how to tackle water pollution, as well as the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Head of the College of Social Science Professor Duncan French said: “I wish to add my personal congratulations to Professor Frank Tanser, Global Professor of Rural Health and Social Care, and Director of the Lincoln International Institute for Rural Health.
“This is fantastic recognition of Frank’s important work, grounded in South Africa but with global implications. It builds upon his recent honour by the South African Medical Research Council of Gold Medal Scientific Achievement Award.”
