Project Selborne: 3 month update from Capita Plc ft. Royal Navy video

  posted by amarsh | 29/06/2021

For those involved with or interested in the progress of Project Selborne, the transformational training programme for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, we’re pleased to provide an update from the perspective of David Hook CBE, Managing Director of Defence Training at Capita. Capita is the lead organisation in Team Fisher, the consortium of organisations delivering the training programme, in which the University of Lincoln sits as academic delivery partner.

**Message from David Hook CBE**

It’s been an extremely busy 12 short weeks since the first service commencement date of 1 April of the Selborne Programme when over 800 people TUPE transferred into Capita and its consortium of partners marking the official start of the programme, taking over a large part of shore-based training for the Royal Navy.

Selborne will deliver highly trained people to the front line faster, improving training outcomes for both sailors and marines through improved and modernised training.

It’s been a huge effort across all teams involved in Team Fisher (the collective name for the consortium) and very impressive considering the potential upheaval and change that has taken place as well as the potential impact on delivery. As we pass the end of the third month, it’s an opportunity to reflect on everything that has gone well – and it’s been impressive.

· Zero interruption to planned training.

· 100% of our KPIs all met.

This is a tremendous achievement as we embark on this new strategic partnership with the Royal Navy and it’s very much down to every individual in the team. This is even more impressive when you consider this programme is not the traditional vendor/supplier relationship. It is very much a strategic partnership centred on trust and openness – a shared endeavour.

I have been really impressed the huge team effort and thank everyone involved in recognition of their individual contributions and commitment to this, our shared endeavour.
