A message from Simon Parkes, as a University SLT Diversity and Inclusion Champion

posted by Tim Marks | 14/07/2021

“Like the overwhelming majority of the Country I am proud to have been represented in the European Championships by a young, diverse and talented squad of players, led by an inspirational manager.  The players have started each match by reminding us that the battle against racism is not over and it was sad to see that demonstrated by a tiny minority of people in the aftermath of the final on Sunday.

“We can, however, take some heart from the overwhelming response of the public who have made it clear they stand with the England team and against racism and bigotry.  Our values, as a nation, were demonstrated by the players who represented us so magnificently.  We should all stand with them.”

Simon Parkes

Deputy Vice Chancellor and University SLT Diversity and Inclusion Champion
