Face Mask Exemption Cards

To protect our university community staff and students are encouraged to wear masks, and the policy guiding mask wearing for this academic year can be viewed on the HR blog site staff guidance. However some staff and students are unable to do so due to disabilities and health conditions, and these staff and students are therefore exempt from wearing masks. Some reasons why people may be unable to wear a face mask include:

• not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability, including respiratory illnesses

• if putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress

• if you are providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate.

Some people who are exempt may feel more comfortable wearing a face mask exemption card to make others aware that they cannot wear a mask. It is not a legal requirement or a requirement of university policy to carry or wear an exemption card. However if you are exempt from wearing a face mask and you would like a face mask exemption card and lanyard to wear on campus, these are now available to collect from the Student Support Centre, Minerva Building. For university staff working at Holbeach or Riseholme, please contact rsanderson@lincoln.ac.uk to arrange to have a lanyard sent to your workplace.
