Professor Anna Wilkinson – Inaugural Lecture
The Lincoln Institute for Advanced Studies is delighted to invite you to Professor Anna Wilkinson’s Inaugural Lecture: The secret minds of animals
Have you ever wondered what an animal knows, how it perceives the world and learns about its environment?  This lecture aims to get you thinking about what animals are thinking. I will introduce you to the world of animal cognition, showing evidence of the remarkable cognitive abilities of animals, especially those which we don’t normally think of as ‘clever’.  I will explore this from a variety of perspectives, from the evolutionary underpinnings of cognitive abilities to the practical use of animal cognition to solve real world problems.
Prof Anna Wilkinson did her undergraduate degree at University of Stirling, followed by a PhD at the University of York. After a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Vienna, she joined Lincoln as a lecturer in 2010, and has since held Visiting Professor positions at University of Kyoto, Japan and Centre for Mind and Brain Sciences, University of Trento, Italy.
