‘The Challenges Facing the Heritage Sector’: Heritage Research Symposium

The University of Lincoln’s Heritage Research Theme’s free symposium on 18 July 2022 in SLB Lecture Theatre aims to bring together academics and heritage professionals locally, nationally and internationally to share progress and identify strategic priorities for the future around the challenges and priorities facing the heritage sector since the Covid pandemic, including commonalities and differences between experiences at local and national/international levels, and how universities can help.

The symposium will combine keynote addresses on current challenges and priorities with round table presentations and structured discussions identifying specific, strategic ways forward which will help meet these challenges which we can then begin to action.

Keynote speakers:
• Lizzie Glithero-West (Chief Executive of the Heritage Alliance): ‘Heritage – The Long Game’
• Dr Abigail Hunt (Director of the Enabled Archaeology Foundation and Associate Professor in LIBS): ‘Enabled Archaeology: The exclusive past and present of field archaeology, and the potential for an inclusive future’
• Ian George (Historic Places Manager, Lincolnshire County Council): ‘Everything changed, and yet nothing changed’
