The School of Health and Social care is delighted to inform you on Friday 24 November, the new student-led Physiotherapy clinic will open to all staff. The appointments are currently free of charge for staff and can be accessed via the booking page link below:

What is the student-led physiotherapy clinic?
The clinic will be staffed by students from our MSc Contemporary Physiotherapy Practice Programme, supported and supervised by academic physiotherapy staff.

What is the purpose of the student-led physiotherapy clinic?
The purpose of the clinic is to benefit both staff and the physiotherapy students. The students will have the opportunity to use and develop their skills in assessment and management, but the service is equally of benefit to staff in maintaining their wellbeing.

Who is the student-led physiotherapy clinic for?
The clinic is open for any permanent staff working at the university.

Where is it?
The clinic is based on the Brayford Campus at the front of 179 High Street, which is directly onto the high street near the level crossing. 179 High Street is adjacent to the Sarah Swift Building.

How much does it cost?
At the moment the clinic is only for University of Lincoln staff and is free of charge for you to access and use.

When is the clinic open and how can I access it?
The clinic will be running weekly on a Friday between 9:30 and 16:00 and bookings are now open. The first session will be on Friday 24 November. Please only book your first appointment, subsequent appointments will be discussed and arranged with you once you have had your initial assessment.

What services are available?
We are able to see new problems, as well as chronic and existing ones. You will be fully assessed, and the management options discussed with you in full.
The service may be a one-off assessment with advice or involve a treatment plan and subsequent appointments. All of this will be individualised and discussed with you.
The clinic is primarily for those with pain and problems associated with joints, muscles & ligaments (soft tissues).

These include:
Low back pain (including Sciatica), Mid back pain & Neck pain.
Pain and problems with the upper limbs, such as shoulder pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome
Pain and problems with the lower limbs, such as hip / knee pain (including osteoarthritis), ankle pain.

What Treatment are available?
Physiotherapy treatment can be varied depending on the problem but may include:
Advice and guidance
Rehabilitation
Exercise prescription & advice
Manual therapy
Ergonomic advice
Education and advice on general activity and wellbeing.

The university still runs a sports injury clinic, and if your problem is more related to a sports injury please use their student-led service.
