In memory of Daniel Hunt
We are profoundly saddened to hear of the passing of Daniel Hunt, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art. Dan was a passionate teacher, a fierce champion of the arts, a talented artist, a valued colleague and a dear friend. In his 16 years at the University of Lincoln Dan has shaped the creative and critical practice of thousands of students, all of whom were enriched and transformed by their work with him.
Loved by colleagues and students alike, Dan will be missed enormously by the University community, and especially his close colleagues in the School of Creative Arts. The thoughts and condolences of all the University of Lincoln community go to his friends and family.
Dan’s creative work played a vital role in his academic life. Trained in both Fine and Performing Arts at De Monfort University, and with an MA in Contemporary Arts from Nottingham Trent, Dan created live performances, 2D works and installations both individually and with a wide range of collaborators. His work has been performed and exhibited at venues and festivals across the UK, including Nottingham Contemporary, Surface Gallery, the Edinburgh Fringe, LIFT, the New Walk Museum and the National Theatre.
At the University, Dan’s multi-disciplinary skills saw him work and teach across Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Drama, Theatre, Fine Art and Technical Theatre. He was a specialist in sited and located performance, supporting his students to make thrilling creative discoveries in unusual and unique spaces. Dan also served as the Student Success Lead in the School of Creative Arts, taking time and care to ensure that every student had the opportunity to grow creatively and intellectually. He will be deeply, deeply missed by us all.
