Professor Zvelindovsky awarded Fellowship
Professor Andrei Zvelindovsky, Head of School of Maths and Physics, has been awarded a prestigious Invitational Fellowship from the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS).
During his visit, Prof Zvelindovsky will visit universities in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya and Sendai, to give research seminars and present his work at the Japan Association for Chemical Innovation in Tokyo. He will also deliver a special seminar organised for major chemical engineering companies by a leading Japanese and materials modelling company, JSOL.
Prof Zvelindovsky’s research is centred on computer modelling of nanostructured polymer materials. He said: “Scientists all around the world are trying to create smaller and smaller devices, which would be still very powerful. Nanostructured materials is the way forward – they will use less materials and ultimately less energy as well. The JSTS Fellowship is the appreciation of the pioneering work we do in Lincoln in this field.”
Professor Toshihiro Kawakatsu from Tohoku University in Sendai, who coordinated the overseas visit commented: “I am very impressed with the research conducted at the Centre for Computational Physics in Lincoln. The JSPS Invitation Fellowship for Professor Zvelindovsky will strengthen the UK-Japan collaboration”.
