BRIT Challenge 2024

11 MARCH

The University of Lincoln will be taking part in The BRIT Challenge 2024 from Monday 11th March until Sunday 17th March 2024.

The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) exists to support and improve the mental health, fitness and wellbeing of young adults, students, and colleagues, throughout the UK, and as part of this challenge we will be encouraging colleagues and students alike, to take some time out of their usual working/study day to participate in a wellbeing activity.

The theme this year is “24”, so why not take just 24 minutes out of your day and go for a walk, visit the gym or go for a swim, or you could spend some time outdoors and volunteer your time to support the University’s Kitchen Garden.

Being active is a natural mood booster and one of the best things we can do for our mental health and wellbeing. Our bodies release feel-good hormones when we’re active that can also reduce anxiety and stress and help us sleep better.

As part of the BRIT Challenge Week, we have invited Pumpkin the Therapy Dog to lead us on a Wellbeing Walk on Wednesday, 11th March 2024. The walk will meet at 10.15 at Lawress Hall Reception and walk around the grounds of the Lawress Hall and Riseholme Campus for approximately 45 minutes. Pumpkin will also be available throughout the day in the Wellbeing Room at Lawress Hall for therapy sessions, during which she will provide comfort and emotional support through being held and petted.

We also have lots of activities that are already available free of charge to colleagues, that take place throughout the week – maybe this could be the week you take that step and try one of the many activities we have on offer.
