Oliver Whitehead, founder of Synx Games and Sparkhouse tenant, has been shortlisted amongst the final 3 in the Midlands Regional Start-Up Awards for Creative Start-Up of the Year. Not only a successful business owner, but Oliver is also currently a second-year student at the University of Lincoln studying computer science.

Synx Games develops servers for online gaming, servicing games such as Minecraft and Roblox. To find out more about Synx Games, you can read our full article with Oliver on the Sparkhouse website. 2023 was a year of growth for Oliver and his team, with his servers boasting over 100,000 unique players across 2 servers, 15,000 members on his Discord communities with over 4 million unique messages, 17 new clients acquired in 2023 and over £100,000 turnover generated in 22-23.

Synx Games were recently awarded a Lincoln Be Smarter grant which will enable them to expand further into Roblox and take on two new members of staff. Having benefitted from the internships scheme ran by the University of Lincoln’s Careers and Employability team, Oliver plans to focus his recruitment solely on students currently studying at the University of Lincoln.

We wish Oliver and his team all the luck for the final, with the winners being announced on Wednesday 8 May via a livestream.
