Dr Jane Chapman, Professor of Communications in the School of Film, Media, and Journalism has been awarded the status of Professor Emeritus of Media History. This recognises her contribution to UL of three REFs (formerly RAE), and awards of over £650,000 from UK research councils, with a total of 8 consecutive grants coming to Lincoln since 2007. Six of these previous awards as a grant leader have been from AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council), one for ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) and one for the British Academy.

Jane continues to research and is now preparing a proposal for her sixth monograph (which will also be her fourteenth book) and is preparing the international promotion as series editor for a book series for Palgrave Macmillan history section, entitled ‘Neglected Voices from the Past’. Her next book ‘Writing Resistance in the Second World War: Secrecy and Participation in Newspapers’ will be launched later this year as part of this new book series, along with several other titles, including one by a UL PhD alumna.
