Applications Open for Academic Promotions

The University is pleased to confirm the window for applications for academic promotions is now open.

Academic colleagues have the opportunity to apply for promotion to Associate Professor or Professor. These can be on either a Teaching and Research pathway or a Teaching, Scholarship, and Professional Practice pathway.  The closing date for applications is Tuesday 10 September 2024.

Academic promotions criteria have been reviewed and are unchanged despite the challenging financial circumstances the University, and the higher education sector, has faced. Providing academic colleagues with career progression pathways, recognising and retaining talent within the University, remains a key priority as we consolidate and return to growth.

Applications should be aligned to the University’s strategy and applicants will be asked to consider how they would contribute to the University and their discipline as future academic leaders.

We strongly encourage applicants to have a conversation with a relevant senior academic colleague (eg. Head of School/Department or Director of Research/Education and Students) as part of the application process for constructive feedback and guidance on your career aspirations.

To further support staff wishing to make an application, an online information session has been arranged for Wednesday 31 July from 12.30pm-2pm.  At this workshop, you will hear an overview from Professor Karl Dayson, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, and Professor Abigail Moriarty, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education and Students, on the various routes for academic promotion. Colleagues can book a place on this session through MyView (under My Training and Development / New Course Booking / Academic Promotions CPD Session).
