National Sector Pay Negotiation 2024/25 JNCHES Update
The University is a member of the national pay negotiation process known as JNCHES (Joint Negotiating Committee for Higher Education Staff).
Through the JNCHES process, the Universities & Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) negotiates the annual base pay uplift on behalf of around 140 member institutions with the five higher education trades unions (EIS, GMB, UCU, UNISON and Unite).
UCU and UNISON have rejected the UCEA offer for 2024/25 and have invoked the New JNCHES Dispute Resolution Procedure.
Negotiations were due to conclude by 29 April but were extended at the request of the trades unions. The final negotiating meeting took place on 26 June. UCEA made its offer on 3 July. UCU and UNISON informed UCEA formally on 10 July that they had rejected the offer and were invoking the New JNCHES Dispute Resolution Procedure.
UCEA is in the process of arranging meetings under the dispute resolution procedure with the intention that they will take place over August.
As a consequence, it will not be possible to implement an uplift to pay from 1 August 2024. As soon as the dispute procedure has been concluded we will provide a further update.
