Thermal Analysis Showcase at the Bridge

 posted by | 27/11/2024

The Thermal Analysis Showcase, Monday 9 December, is an introduction to thermal analysis and will provide attendees with first-hand experience of the Bridge’s capabilities in this area using a combination of talks and hands-on demonstrations of thermal analytical equipment.

Thermal analysis provides information on fundamental material performance characteristics such as melting points, glass transition temperatures volatilisation and more. As such, thermal analytical techniques have a wide range of potential applications including polymers and composites, coatings, ceramics, construction materials and high value chemicals such as APIs.

Analytical techniques covered will include:
Thermo -gravimetric analysis (TGA)
Differential scanning calorimtetry (DSC)
Thermal conductivity (specific heat capacity and thermal diffusivity)
Heat treatment coupled to mechanical analysis
Thermomicroscopy

This is an opportunity to learn more about these techniques and how they could add value to your ongoing research activities or create new
areas of investigation and will also be a chance to engage with the Bridge team and network with other academics with similar interests.

The event will take place at the Bridge (Joseph Ruston Building), from 1.30pm – 4.30pm.
