Speaker at Equality Conference at Aston University in Birmingham
On Thursday 28 – Saturday 30 November, the University College Union (UCU), held a Hybrid Equality Conference at Aston University in Birmingham, over 180 delegates, representing 115 Institutions attended. A joint Plenary was held and individual sessions for Disabled, Migrant, Women, Black and LGBT+ members.
Lexi, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Health and Care Sciences, presented on “Contemporary intersex and transgender issues in education” followed by a panel discussion.
One of the issues that was highlighted was the lack of specific policies across the sector for the protection of Intersex and Transgender people, both from harassment and the complexities of transitioning whilst at university. She was pleased to share the journey in creating our own policy, see below:
