Christmas Switch Off and BMS System Update
Each year the university takes steps to optimise energy savings during the Christmas period, this includes fine tuning the BMS system, locking down certain buildings and reducing the opening hours of others. This is co-ordinated with key stakeholders around the campus.
But, we know there are more things that as a community we can be doing to optimise our energy savings and reduce our carbon emissions!
If you’d like to learn more about what we’re doing, and what you can do within your areas, you can join us at our upcoming Christmas Shutdown for Staff meeting.
Date: Monday 9 December
Time: 9:30am (for 30 mins)
Location: Teams meeting
Register: email environment@lincoln.ac.uk
Alternatively, if you can’t make the meeting here are the key areas we need your support on:
Switch off (at the wall where you can):
– PCs and monitors
– Chargers – for your phone, tablet etc
– TVs – including the big screens
– Lights – check for Christmas lights
– Printers
– Kitchen appliances
– Defrost, empty and unplug fridges – then leave the door open
– Water heaters and boilers
If you work in any labs or technical areas on campus there may be many more things you can switch off. If you’re unsure which items can be safely switched off, please contact the Estates Support who’ll be able to advise.
Reminder – personal heaters are not allowed on campus unless authorised via the Estates department. If you have a personal heater, please ensure this is switched off too.
If you have concerns that you may need additional heating in your space, please contact the Estates Support team who can investigate your requirements.
