Judith Carey to Retire from the University
Dear colleagues,
Judith Carey has decided to retire from the University, and from her current role as Chief Student Officer, at the end of February 2025.
On leaving Judith will have been at the University for 22 years. She has achieved a huge amount during her time here, latterly joining SLT as Chief Student Officer responsible for nearly all student facing activity outside of the classroom. Amongst all Judith has achieved at Lincoln, the outstanding legacy will be the reputation she and her team have gained for our sector leading student welfare services.
Judith joined the University in 2002 having had a career as a nurse and in NHS management. Within the University of Lincoln she has assumed the roles of: Director of Student Services, Director of Student Affairs, Academic Registrar and Executive Director for Students. In all of these roles she has made a positive contribution to improving how we respond to student needs and demand.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my personal thanks to Judith not only for her contribution to the growth of the University but also for her time on SLT. In this senior leadership role her wisdom, insight, and caring attitude together with her outstanding commitment to the purpose of the University have been invaluable to me. She can always be relied on to read the pulse of the University. She also helped to provide stability as we transitioned between PVCs for Education and Students over the last 12 months. I wish her well as she writes the next chapter in her life story.
We will have the opportunity to say a more formal thank you to Judith early in the New Year and we will circulate details in due course.
The process for recruiting the replacement for Judith’s leadership, skills and knowledge will begin shortly.
Regards,
Prof Neal Juster
Vice Chancellor
