Book of the Month – January 2025

posted by Olivia Warbey | 08/01/2025

To celebrate National Croissant Day, that takes place on Thursday 30 January, our Book of the Month for January is ‘Death and Croissants’, by Ian Moore.

This is the first novel in the Follet Valley mystery series and centres around Richard, a middle-aged Englishman who runs a B&B in the fictional Val de Follet in the Loire Valley.

Nothing ever happens to Richard, and really that’s the way he likes it.

One day, however, one of his older guests disappears, leaving behind a bloody handprint on the wallpaper. Another guest, the enigmatic Valerie, persuades a reluctant Richard to join her in investigating the disappearance.

Comedian, Alan Carr, said; ‘This is a joyous read’, whilst the Chase’s Paul Sinha commented: ‘A writer of immense wit and charm’.

This is available as an audio book via the Libby App: https://lncn.ac/GetLibby where you can also find a feast of more foody books.
