Dr. Amira Elnokaly Shares Expertise and Strengthens Longstanding Collaboration with Naresuan University, Thailand

On December 9 2024, Dr. Amira Elnokaly was invited to the Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design at Naresuan University, Thailand, to deliver two presentations to faculty members, postgraduate research (PGR) and taught (PGT) students. This engagement is part of a decade-long collaboration between Dr. Elnokaly and Naresuan University, dating back to their first joint research initiative in 2015, funded by the British Council. Since then, their partnership has flourished, securing three additional successful research funding applications and making significant strides in architectural preservation and sustainable design.

Dr. Elnokaly’s presentations were tailored to address contemporary challenges and innovations in sustainable urban development, cultural heritage preservation, and architectural design. The sessions were met with enthusiasm and were well-received by the attendees, who found the insights both relevant and inspiring. The engaging discussions highlighted the strong alignment in academic goals between Dr. Elnokaly and some of the Naresuan University, faculty in attendance, fostering a deeper commitment to innovative research and education.

During the visit, Dr. Elnokaly held a strategic meeting with key university leaders, including Prof. Dr. Nirat Soodsang, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Associate Professor Dr. Witiya Pittungnapoo, Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs. The discussions focused on continuing and expanding their fruitful collaboration into new research avenues and education initiatives. A tour of Naresuan University’s cutting-edge research workshops and facilities provided further inspiration for future collaborative projects.

An integral part of the visit was engaging directly with students through lively discussions on sustainable architecture and design, enriching their educational experience with international perspectives. This interaction reinforced the importance of bridging research with education and highlighted Dr. Elnokaly’s role in nurturing global academic networks.
