University Librarian Retirement
Ian Snowley will take early retirement from the University and his role as Dean of Learning Skills & University Librarian on 31st January 2025.
Ian joined the University in September 2009, initially on an interim basis, going on to spend over 15 years working at Lincoln. He has led the Library service, developing the support it provides to students and staff, into an integral part of teaching and learning over this period.
Ian has spent 40 years as a professional librarian, working in a wide range of libraries, spanning public, health/medical and national.
Judith Carey, Academic Registrar & Chief Student Officer at the University, said: “Ian has been a hugely valued member of the University through his leadership of the Library and Learning Skills team and in the support he has given to colleagues and students across the University. As a senior leader in the Student Success team we have found his insights and experience immensely helpful and we have enjoyed his humour and kindness. Ian will be very much missed but we want to wish him all the very best for the future.”
From 1st February 2025, the Library service will move into the portfolio of Professor Abigail Moriarty, Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Students, who said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Ian and his amazing team since I joined Lincoln. I am delighted the valuable services of Libraries and Learning & Skills will be added to my responsibilities; they are vital to support the student experience.”
More information about the leadership of Libraries & Learning Skills will be provided in due course.
