Neurodiversity Celebration Week 17-23 March 2025
Neurodiversity Celebration Week (NCW) 17 – 23 March is a worldwide initiative in partnership with Lexxic Empowering Neurodiversity, the aim of which is to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It looks to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by educational providers with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.
The founder of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Siena Castellon, explains that she wanted to change the way learning differences are perceived. She was a teenager with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia, and in her experience, people often focus on the challenges of neurological diversity. Siena wanted to change the narrative and create a balanced view which focusses equally on their talents and strengths.
In recognition of this, the University Library as part of its Library Wellbeing support has signed up to this great initiative for a second year and will be promoting some of the webinars from their excellent programme of online sessions across both libraries, ie including Ross Medical School Library. In addition, there will be an informative display within each of the libraries to celebrate different minds and a collection of associated reading to showcase the diversity of books the libraries hold on a variety of neuro divergences.
