BFI Academy Specialist course gains 370 applications
The British Film Institute (BFI) Academy specialist course in cinematography, the only one of its kind in the UK, was secured by the senior lecturer and programme leader of the BA Film Production at the University of Lincoln. Applications closed in May, surpassing its goal of 90 applicants to fill 30 spaces and achieving an impressive total of nearly 370 applications.
Aspiring cinematographers from across the UK applied, and this transformative course aims to nurture Britain’s next top talent in the art of cinematography. It invites students aged 16-19 from diverse backgrounds, including regions that are often underrepresented in our Film and Media courses. Course leader Jack Shelbourn envisions this initiative as a stepping stone for future recruitment into undergraduate programmes at Lincoln, reinforcing the university’s mission to become one of the best in the country.
This endorsement from the foremost institute for film in the UK is a testament to our exceptional teaching in cinematography at Lincoln. We can proudly assert that Lincoln is THE place to study cinematography.
