Impact on Rural and Costal Health Policy Workshop
The Policy Hub are pleased to confirm that Natascha Engel from Palace Yard will be delivering a half-day workshop for academics and research staff on Rural and Coastal Health and the health impacts of multi-level deprivation.
The workshop will focus on current policy discussions and areas of potential impact and influence, for example, the current Benefits Reform consultation, the implementation of the Warm Homes Plan, the DWP select committee looking at child poverty and their inquiry into Pathways to Work.
We will look at which government departments have responsibility for rural/coastal health outcomes and which local or regional organisations have policy responsibility and powers.
We will look at opportunities in Parliament and Government to have the greatest impact, and the work that is happening in think tanks and local groups.
Natascha Engel was a Labour MP from 2005 to 2017 during which time she was a member of the DWP Select Committee, chaired the backbench business select committee and served as Deputy Speaker. Since leaving Parliament, Natascha worked at policy and public opinion agency, Public First, and set up Palace Yard to provide succinct and accessible briefings to policymakers on complex and sometimes controversial issues.
