Join our 2025 University Clearing Advisor support team
This year, the recruitment of applicants through Clearing is going to be more important than ever. The University is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to support the Clearing Centre to help match university applicants to courses with Clearing vacancies here at Lincoln during key dates in August.
Working in the University’s Clearing Centre, our volunteer advisors follow a set script, engaging with potential applicants to collect all the information needed to determine whether an offer can be made. You do not need prior knowledge of admissions to undertake the role of Clearing Advisor, just a friendly and kind telephone manner. It is an exciting and fulfilling environment and an opportunity to work with over 100 colleagues from across the University, where your contributions will make a significant impact.
Event details:
- The main day of Clearing is when A-Level and BTEC results are released, which this year is Thursday 14th August.
- Our Clearing Centre will be based in the Isaac Newton Building on the Brayford Campus.
- Our phone lines will be open from 8am until 7pm on the 14th August but most colleagues will only be required until 4pm unless they indicate on the volunteer request form that they are able to stay until 7pm.
- As Clearing continues after the main event, and into September, the Admissions team who lead on organising Clearing activities will need some extra support with taking calls whilst they focus on processing clearing applications to ensure our new students are ready to enrol in September.
- The role will be based on campus in the Clearing Centre (Isaac Newton Building) from 14th to 16th August.
- From week commencing the 18th August, this role can be conducted remotely with support provided by the Admissions team via MS Teams.
Training:
- Training will be provided and must be attended in person.
- This year, we are combining the telephone training with the Clearing Advisor training which means only one training session to attend.
- It will include all the information you will need to be able to take calls from potential applicants.
- We will demonstrate the telephone system we use during Clearing, what to say to applicants and how to handle the types of questions you may receive.
- You will also have the opportunity to put that in to practice in the Clearing Centre itself, so you get a feel for the environment and systems we use.
- Training will take place on the Brayford Campus on the following dates:
- Tuesday 5th August: 9am to 12pm
- Wednesday 6th August: 9am to 12pm
- The training must be completed to be able to undertake the role.
