This Wednesday (6th December), Professor Nigel Curry will be delivering the final School of Geography seminar of this term on “The problems with economic growth”.

The talk will examine development polices throughout the world which place economic growth as their cornerstone. He will draw audiences attention to how in many cases, that growth is neither a necessary nor sufficient to achieve the benefits being strived towards.

He will argue that economic growth can be seen to increase inequalities in both income and wealth, reduce collective marginal utilities, and have devastating consequences for the environment.

All are welcome to attend. The seminar will take place at 11am in room 0003 in Junxion.
