Future city 2

A future city has been designed by the University of Lincoln’s Newton Academy Science Club for Girls.

The giant drawing was created in just two hours in the Academy’s Plug in City workshop, which took place on Saturday 31st October and was hosted by the University of Lincoln’s School of Architecture and Design.

Architects and architecture students worked with 60 girls (aged 11-13) to create a graphical town where there were no limits, only imagination, creativity and innovation. The amazing cityscape had everything from Bobsleigh towers and climbing walls that span from building to building, to sky zoos and hot air balloons that float across the sky playing music to the streets!

The work will be on show from Wednesday 4 November in the Architecture and Design Building café.

The Newton Academy was launched at the University of Lincoln in 2014 and runs a 3-year program of science and technology-themed workshops for 11-14 year old Lincolnshire school girls, full of hands-on activities and projects to inspire and enthuse the next generation of female scientists and engineers.
