Historical Association lecture by Professor Philippa Hoskin

We are delighted to welcome Professor Philippa Hoskin back to the University of Lincoln to give a free public talk entitled Murder in the Museum. Taking Becket back to London’ to the City of Lincoln branch of the Historical Association.

Abstract: 2020 marks the 850th anniversary of Thomas Becket’s murder and the 800th anniversary of moving his body to a new shrine in Canterbury. Philippa Hoskin will talk about the role some Cambridge medieval manuscripts (including books owned by Becket himself) will play in the celebrations.

Prof Philippa Hoskin is director of the Parker Library, Donnelley Fellow of Corpus Christi College Cambridge and member of the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge. Previously she was professor of Medieval Studies at the University of Lincoln. All welcome! The event is free for students and staff of the University of Lincoln, and for members of the Historical Association.
