LAUNCH FEST is a celebration of new art, dance, music, theatre and performance from the students of the University of Lincoln’s Fine and Performing Arts courses.

Taking place Friday 20th May – Tuesday 5th July 2022 the festival showcases new work from emerging professional artists, performers, and creatives – all made as part of their studies. Audiences will be welcomed onto the Brayford Campus and to events across Lincoln as part of this exciting festival of new arts and culture, featuring exhibitions, music, dance, new writing, contemporary theatre, and more!

Events include the student curated ‘Nebula’ Music Festival (4th June), a day-long programme of live music of all genres for all tastes, and the annual ‘LSFPA Dance Showcase’ (19-20th May) – two nights of contemporary dance and choreography from students, staff, and visiting guest artists in Lincoln Performing Arts Centre.

First year students from the ‘BA Drama & Theatre Ensemble Show’ course will be presenting work on the LPAC Main Stage for the first time, created under the direction of professional theatre performers, while the third years will be showing their final ‘Degree Show’ pieces, entirely created, written, performed and directed by the cast. Look out for ‘There’s a Shark in the Thames’ (8th June) – which looks at the increasing problem of climate change – and ‘The Due Diligence Scouts’ (9th June) a dark and comical look at society and growing up.

Planning for the the LSFPA BA Fine Art Degree Show – “Just Call It Art…” is also fully underway. The Project Space Plus Gallery on campus will be throwing open its doors on June 10th to coincide with a celebratory event to mark the festival and raise a toast to the hard work and talent LSFPA students have shown over the year – all are welcome.

To close the festival season, the staff of MA Theatre will be welcoming professional playwrights Carmen Nasr (Dubailand), Simon Stephens (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time), April de Angelis (Hush), and Anders Lustgarten (A Day at the Racists) for a special series of Playwriting Intensives, followed by a showcase of new scripted performance from Lincoln’s newest writers.

Head of School, Dr. Andrew Westerside said, “I’m incredibly proud to welcome audiences to the first ever LAUNCH FEST, our end-of-year showcase of work for students across the School of Fine and Performing Arts.

“Over the last two years, students in LSFPA have had to face some of the biggest challenges the Higher Education and Arts sectors have ever seen. Not only have they faced those challenges, but they’ve done so with creativity, imagination, resilience, and professionalism – this festival showcases that huge accomplishment.”
