Department for Education Survey of staff who teach undergraduate students
The Department for Education would like staff who teach undergraduate students to take part in a survey to explore how undergraduate level teaching is affected by students’ mathematics and literacy skills on entry. The survey explores the following key themes:
1. Whether undergraduate students have sufficient literacy and mathematics skills and understanding on entry to engage with course content and complete assessments
2. How well course qualification requirements ensure that students studying a particular course have the necessary skills to do so
3. What additional support is offered to any students who do not have sufficient mathematics or literacy skills on entry to engage with course content
4. How higher education providers are making use of or planning to adapt teaching or assessments to account for the existence of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT
The survey is completely anonymous, will not collect personal data and no attempt will be made to identify individual members of staff or providers.
The findings from the survey will feed into a number of policy areas, including Maths to 18. The survey will be live from Monday 12 June until 11:59pm on Monday 3 July. https://dferesearch.fra1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3aOom09skYnC79Y
