Opportunities to support with upcoming University events: enrolment and accommodation arrivals

posted by Olivia Warbey | 29/08/2024

Colleagues are invited to volunteer to support with the upcoming enrolment period and accommodation arrivals. Both of these key periods are large in scale and require significant support from staff to ensure the processes go as smoothly as possible.

Supporting these key University events is also a way for colleagues to experience and contribute to major activities within the University’s calendar, to make a difference to students at important moments in their academic journey, and to meet colleagues you might not interact with otherwise.

Please see the details below. If you wish to support with either event, please ensure that you have agreement from your line manager before registering.

Enrolment support

The enrolment period takes place from Monday 16 September until Monday 21 October.

In-person appointments for students will be held in the enrolment suite, which is based in MB2101, Minerva Building, Brayford Pool Campus.

Training will be provided to staff prior to the event via Microsoft Teams, through videos and in person on the day.

If you are interested in providing support, please select your availability via this form by Friday 6 September to allow access to be arranged and training to take place.

If you would like more information about what to expect in enrolment or for any other questions, please contact Angela Jackson-Croft, Ragnar Spalding or Sabine Belokopitova in Student Administration.

Accommodation intake support

Over a four-day period, from Thursday 12 September until Sunday 15 September, the Accommodation team expect to welcome more than 3,000 students to their new home for the 2024/2025 academic year.

With such a large number of visitors into Lincoln over such a short period of time, it is essential that the moving-in process is well organised and runs smoothly to give a warm, friendly and professional first impression of the University of Lincoln.

Duties include:

– Meet and greet students and parents as they arrive in their cars.
– Check arrival information and keep accurate records of students as they arrive.
– Distribute parking slot permits and take telephone numbers.
– Safely direct cars to the nearest available parking slot to their accommodation building, liaising with others in the team on the radios to control the flow of traffic.
– Directing pedestrians safely around the site.
– Manage the distribution and collection of roll cages to assist students moving their belongings.
– Share local knowledge/ give directions.
– Problem solving / signposting.
– Report or record any incidents on the site.

If you are interested in providing support, please select your availability via this form.
