Mental Health First Aider courses

23&24 OCT

We are looking for more colleagues to join our current pool of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs).

The role of a University of Lincoln MHFA is voluntary, and you will be a point of contact and support for any colleague experiencing a mental ill health crisis or emotional distress.  You will be able to recognise mental ill health and help people find the support they need through the resources made available to you.   You will strive to achieve the University of Lincoln’s ambitions of creating an inclusive culture, whereby attitudes and behaviours to mental ill health are not stigmatised, and colleagues feel able to talk about their mental health without fear of repercussion or judgement.

The MHFA course has limited places therefore anybody wishing to take part in this development we ask for the following:

– You must be available to support any colleague from the University, during working hours, who wishes to contact a MHFA
– You must ensure all conversations with colleagues as a MHFA are kept confidential
– This course is specifically for becoming a Mental Health First Aider for peers. Mental Health support for students is provided through Student Services
– You will be added to the MHFA Microsoft Teams site
– You must be willing to provide a Head & Shoulders photograph and a short bio about why you are a Mental Health First Aider to appear on the MHFA portal page
– You must seek Line Manager approval prior to registering your interest
– If we are oversubscribed, then places will be allocated to areas that do not have MHFAs
– You must be available for two full days for MHFA training on: Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 October
– Places on the course are none refundable therefore costs for late cancellation (within 24hrs) or none attendance on the training course will need to be covered by the department / school
