Transgender Awareness Week and University Trans+ / Gender Identity / Non-binary Policy
The University has released its Trans+ / Gender Identity / Non-binary Policy, this also includes Intersex people.
Transgender Awareness Week, held annually from November 13-19, aims to educate the broader community about transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, focusing on the challenges related to transition and identity. This week-long event celebrates progress and acknowledges ongoing efforts for transgender and non-binary equality.
The week culminates in Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on November 20, a day dedicated to honouring victims of transphobic violence. TDOR raises awareness through educational and advocacy activities, remembering those lost to transphobia.
Transgender Awareness Week encourages learning about transgender people’s stories and experiences, promoting advocacy against prejudice, discrimination, and violence affecting the transgender community.
