NSS 2024 Performance Celebrated

Academic and professional service colleagues from across the University came together at an event on Thursday (21 November) afternoon to recognise their contribution to the University’s performance in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS).

The 2024 NSS saw the University outperform sector benchmarks in all seven major question categories and, as well as a number of subject areas being among the highest rated in the country, the University also ranked in the UK top 30 out of 131 higher education providers in Academic Support (ranked 27), Mental Health and Wellbeing (ranked 29), and Student Voice (ranked 29).

The gathering was a chance to celebrate and recognise colleagues that contributed towards these successes. Vice Chancellor Professor Neal Juster opened the event thanking colleagues for the role they play in supporting the NSS and spoke about the value it brings to the University in giving students a voice and helping us to understand what we are doing well and where improvements could be made.

Emillia, Student Representation Officer, and Amelia, Student Support & Development Officer, from Lincoln Students’ Union also spoke on the importance of the NSS and the role it plays in giving students an opportunity to shape how the University works.

Colleagues then took the opportunity to network and discuss how the NSS provides a vital line of communication with students and how it supports their work in shaping course and service design and delivery – you can here some of their reflections in the video below:

The Vice Chancellor then presented colleagues in attendance with a letter to recognise their achievements and thank them for their support, which also contained some of the positive feedback students submitted as part of their NSS response.

Planning is now underway for NSS 2025 which will commence in January 2025, further details of how colleagues can support the survey will be available soon.
