Chris Green Appointed as Chief Operating Officer

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to confirm the appointment of Chris Green as Chief Operating Officer (COO) with immediate effect. Chris takes over the role following Simon Parkes’ recent departure from the University.

Chris brings significant experience to this role, having been Chief Digital Officer at the University since joining us in 2022, and he will play a key part in helping us navigate the complex landscape ahead.

The COO role under Chris will carry a revised remit, focused on supporting modernised service delivery that is both efficient and responsive to the needs of our students and staff. His portfolio will include responsibility for Digital Services (Digital Technologies and Digital Delivery), Strategy & Transformation, Student Registry, Student Wellbeing, Estates, Commercial Services, and Health & Safety.

Chris will continue to work closely with SLT and colleagues across the University to review how we govern our operational activities to ensure we are engaging effectively with those delivering these vital services.

Chris’ appointment is part of a wider realignment of responsibilities within SLT to better reflect our refreshed strategic plan, which also includes the creation of a new Finance & Assurance function led by the Chief Financial Officer Catherine Connell.
