Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Ed Hughes will be joining the University as our Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

As we continue to navigate a highly competitive and evolving higher education landscape, the CMO role will be key in helping us increase awareness, visibility, and reach of the University’s activity. Initially Ed’s focus will be on our prospective student markets but will extend to ensuring we are known for all our teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities

Strengthening our student recruitment is a stated priority within our refreshed strategy and the creation of the CMO position reflects this strategic importance and ambition.

Ed will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for leading the central Marketing & Recruitment and Communications functions at a strategic level and reporting to me as Vice Chancellor.

He brings extensive experience from a range of sectors and has a proven track record in brand transformation and performance marketing, having worked with major global brands such as Nike, Disney, Umbro, and Warner Bros.

He has also led marketing functions at innovative companies including Purplebricks, and Comparethemarket where he was responsible for successful nationwide marketing campaigns and use of data to understand customer behaviour.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Ed to the University.

Professor Neal Juster
Vice Chancellor
