Andrew David Steps Down from Editor Role at Siren Radio

posted by Olivia Warbey | 09/03/2022

Andrew David, the first full time, professional Managing Editor of Siren Radio, has decided to step down and leave Siren Radio and the University. He will be leaving on 29th March 2022 to take accrued leave and his last day as Managing Editor of Siren Radio will be the 30th April.

Andrew joined the University in 2006 and has led Siren Radio’s creation, development, growth and success for the last 16 years. Andrew was instrumental in the creation of the Siren studios, taking the station on air on 11th August 2007 and he has worked tirelessly and professionally with everyone involved in Siren’s award-winning success: university students and staff, volunteers, local schools, and a wide range of community groups regionally, nationally and internationally. Andrew has also been a key contributor to the teaching of Journalism in the College of Arts and will also be remembered for his role of Master of Ceremonies at numerous University events, including graduation ceremonies and internal awards events.

In line with the development of the new University strategy, the College of Arts is currently reviewing its many cultural assets. The University and College remain 100% committed to Siren, recognising its key role in building and enhancing the many communities within its broadcasting reach across the city. As a clear statement of its commitment to Siren, last month the College formally submitted its application to Ofcom to further extend the station’s FM licence for another 5 years. This will enable us to continue growing and developing the station and its output.

In the short term, following Andrew’s departure, Ryan Jones will be the key point of contact for day-to-day running of the station. Over the next few months the College of Arts will appoint new station management.

In the meantime, I’m sure you will join me in thanking Andrew for the last 16 years’ service to Siren Radio and the University of Lincoln and wish him all the very best for the future.
