Find Your Way with ‘Navigate Me’
Following an ambitious development phase, the University’s ICT department is proud to announce the launch of a new service to help staff, students and visitors find their way around the Brayford Pool Campus.
‘Navigate-Me’ offers a route planning service, showing the quickest route from one location to another and providing step-by-step instructions on how to get there. It even provides a breakdown of the estimated distance and time to your chosen destination, and has a ‘disabled access’ option which pinpoints routes with lift access.
Providing information on active events taking place on campus, it is hoped the service will not only help staff and students get around but also those visiting the campus for a variety of reasons including open days and public lectures.
The service was developed by the University’s students participating in the ‘ICT Associate Developer’ programme, with the collaboration of the Estates department. The service utilises research produced by the School of Computer Science, which developed the underlying path-finding algorithm.
