The University of Lincoln’s Institute for Advanced Studies is delighted to invite all staff to Professor Abigail Woods’ Inaugural Lecture.

In this inaugural lecture, Professor Abigail Woods seeks to divert our attention from human to animal health, by surveying the research she has performed on its history in modern Britain. Opening with the last great lockdown – of the countryside during the 2001 Foot and Mouth Disease epidemic – she explores what previous encounters with diverse animal diseases can teach us about the past and present of human-animal relationships, modern agriculture, disease governance, veterinary expertise and identity, and human health and medicine. This is also a personal story of working across roles and disciplines in Abigail’s journey from practising veterinary surgeon to PVC / Head of College of Arts.

The details of the lecture are as follows:

Wednesday 25th November 2020
1800 – 1900
