Lincoln Choral Society comes to University of Lincoln

Civic University
As part of Lincoln University’s Civic University initiative, Lincoln Choral Society have partnered with the University of Lincoln to bring great choral music to the city. The auditioned choir of around 100 singers has been mounting concerts of great choral music since 1896, the majority of which were performed in the majestic nave of Lincoln Cathedral where the choir still regularly perform.

New Home for the choral society
The choir have already started meeting in their new rehearsal venue: the excellent Isaac Newton Lecture Theatre (INB0114). Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. The choir is lead by two UoL Senior Lecturers in Music: Mark Wilde and Ed Wellman.

Scholarships
Part of the partnerships enables the society to fund four choral scholarships (£600 each per year) for four gifted UoL students. There are also a number of apprenticeships. Scholar and Apprentices benefit from free membership to the society as well as mentoring from the musical directors and solo performance opportunities.

Benefits for UoL Staff and Students
Further benefits for the UoL community brought about by the partnership include:
– Heavily discounted subscription fees for University students (£10 per season).
– Discounted tickets for all the Society concerts for University students
– Discounted tickets for all the Society concerts for University employees (10% discount)
– Discounted subscription fees for University employees (25% discount)
